The Great American Bake Sale with Cupcake Decorating Table for Children at Miami Springs River Festival 2009
Miami Springs, FL – April 19, 2009 – The Miami Springs River Festival committee has just donated a table during their River Festival so that children may come and decorate cupcakes while their parents make donations to end child hunger. Share Our Strength's Great American Bake Sale is a national effort that encourages Americans to host bake sales to help end childhood hunger.
Bake sale proceeds are donated to after-school and summer feeding programs in your community and across the country—food programs that hundreds and thousands of kids depend on. Since 2003, more than 1.3 million people have hosted bake sales, raising nearly $5 million. Restaurants may also participate by donating any kind of desserts that can be decorated. The Bake Sale will be hosted by Yendi Valdes, up and coming Miami television and film talent. Ms. Valdes has been a part of many charity organizations in our local community for the past ten years. She is a professional dancer and is currently producing and starring in her own television series for teenagers called “Cook it Up.” The show will address important issues about proper nutrition and physical activity while teaching them to prepare dishes and work in the kitchen area. This event will be documented on video.
